Project Praxis By Autodesk - to draw & share workflows

PRAXIS  is a cloud-based app for sharing your product knowledge and best practices through simple, step-by-step workflow diagrams. It's totally free. It doesn't involve any Installation's, you just would need a browser (preferably chrome version 20 & later) as this is a cloud-based app.Autodesk provides us with a Getting started tutorial on their website An example of using praxis can be found in this video  where he refers to this praxis example workflow

Fusion 360 for Architects

Fusion 360 uses history based modeling techniques . This is similar to using an undo command, but unlike all other programs Fusion 360 also has a timeline which you can scrub back & forth to a particular point of your modeling. The best thing though about fusion 360 is it comes with inbuilt T-splines abilities. T-splines is one of the best plug-ins for the Rhino-3D that's used to create fluid forms. Autocad: Select all objects in a layer (or with similar properties) & filter

AutoCAD is one of the best CAD applications in the market. It has a wide variety of features. The more you learn the more feature you find which will definitely impress you. One of such features in AutoCAD is the QSelect tool. Qselect is an advanced version of "select similar" which lets you choose the property that you need AutoCAD to use for selecting similar elements. In Autocad, you can select objects having similar properties like layer, color, line type, transparency etc... using Qselect command. QSelect window provides you with multiple options.Once you have selected the elements, you can use filter command to further filter your selection. Convert autocad Drawings from mm to inch or vice vera

If you have a drawing in Imperial units and want to convert it to Metric, changing the dimension primary units is not gonna work ass the actual length between any two line won't change. You'll have to scale the drawing with a factor that increases the drawing size. There are 3 different ways to do it, as mentioned in Cad-Notes Scale the drawing manually  Create a new drawing with your preferred unit, then insert/bind your drawing there. Using DWGUNITS tool for Autocad 2009 & later. Scaling Manually Inch to mm To manually scale a drawing from inch to mm, you have to select all the objects you want to scale & choose a base point & specify the scale factor as 25.4  mm to inch To manually scale a drawing from mm to inch, you have to select all the objects you want to scale & choose a base point & specify the scale factor as 0.0393. Explanation  We know that to convert a drawing from mm to m, you have to scale it by 0.001(1/1000

Reset Dimesnion Text Position in Autocad

The following link in Autodesk forum provides the solution. The different ways to Reset the text position of any dimension in AutoCAD 2015 & lower are Using the DIM command and type hometext  in the command prompt (also works with multiple dimensions) Selecting all the Dimensions you would like to reset the position, Right click on one of the grips and choose Dimension Text position>Home Text . Refer link In Autocad 2016 & later, the Dim command has been associated with a new command which lets you select objects to automatically switch between different dimension types. So, the method to reset text position in Autocad 2016 is Hovering over the text and choose Reset text position from the list of options provided. Reference  link  (this process cannot be used for multiple dimensions) To reset text position of multiple dimensions, use DIMEDIT command and select HOME from the options
